Self-Care Is Not Selfish

 Lately I have been very busy and my vegetable garden has not been given the attention it deserves. I never intended to let my garden go by the wayside, but life just got in the way. To remedy that, I went outside yesterday to give my garden a little love and my plants did not look happy. Did I berate myself for neglecting the plants? Not at all. Instead, I watered them, pulled a few weeds, and gave them some plant food. When I was done, I stood back and admired my work. Then it occurred to me that I didn’t think twice about giving them the care that they needed to be healthy and happy plants, but I rarely do the same for myself. So why is it that caring for my vegetable garden comes naturally to me but taking care of myself doesn’t?

This movement is the pushback against women (and men) basing their self-worth on their appearance and encourages loving and accepting their bodies. Positive Affirmations For a Positive Mind

I did a yoga teacher training course in 2017. When I was handed the course outline, one of the topics was mantras. I understood their benefits and liked the idea of repeating something meaningful to myself, but the spiritualness of it didn’t appeal to me. Luckily, the Western world loves to take things from the Eastern world and tweak them to make them more accessible to the masses. It’s like how mindfulness is really just meditation with a twist, so the Westernized version of mantras is positive affirmations…and I absolutely love them!
